For the 5th straight year, GUtech sports office organized an award celebration to recognize student-athletes. This year student athletes were invited for lunch in the staff common room in combination with the presentation of awards, volunteer certificates and senior graduates send-off letters.
Over 50 student-athletes are members of the different student teams, consisting of the female/ male basketball team, female/male futsal team, female/male badminton, female swimming team, female table tennis.
Highlighting the specialty awards were the Best Female Player Basma Al Rashdi, Best Male Player Ali Al Hajri, Best Athlete Female Geetanjali Sambangi, Best Male Athlete Loay Al Mandhari and Best Newcomer Athlete Yaghdan Al Tamtami.
Furthermore, recognized for their volunteer engagement throughout the academic year at sport events were Abdullah Shinoon Al Balushi, Aisha Al Falahi, Al Mahanad Al Ghafri, Ali Al Siyabi, Attalah Kubas, Azhar Al Mawali, Fatema Al Balushi, Geetanjali Sambangi, Iman Abdellaoui, Ismail Farah, Khalifa Al Shamsi, Loay Al Mandhari, Mazin Al Houti, Neeraj Krishnan Goprikshnan, Saleh Al Abbadi, and Taahira Kaleque.
The event would then cap with one of the most important recognitions that a student-athlete can receive – the presentation of the reference letters honoring their accomplishments within the sports programme. We wish Ali Al Hajri (Futsal), Al Yaghdan Al Hasni (Futsal), Jokha Al Zakwani (Futsal, BB), Zuwaina Al Zakwani (Futsal, BB), Hanan Al Habsi (Futsal, BB), Basma Al Rashdi (Futsal, BB), Qamariya Al Brashdi (Futsal, BB), Aisha Al Falahi (Futsal, BB), Nawal Al Amri (Futsal), Yusra Al Shoukri (Futsal, BB), and Atika A Rahbi (Futsal) for their future endeavors all the best and are confident that the lessons learned within sports will transfer straight away into their work life.
